Just read the guide - found the answer

@slarstorm You need to use the javelin and the artifact in combination to reach the top.

Related spoiler-ish question:

I don't get the reason behind the 4 pods at the top of the mountain. At first I thought they were the landing pods for the stellanite golems, but weren't there only 3 golems (not including Billy, who crashed his pod in the Duri forest)?

I think I found a bug. On the first screen/level of the 66 flee, there's the high platform that requires you to beam two switches/buttons to scale it. I managed to beam the bottom one, so I jumped to the platform that appeared and go to rightmost of the platform. Then, 66 didn't attack me and instead charged jumped and destroyed the platform as if I had progressed with the level. The platform still got destroyed but I was unscathed. After that he disappeared and I have all the time in the world to finish that level.

about the places to sleep, Gale's slept in all those places (her bed in Panselo, the inn at Atai, the inn at Daea, the inn at Sunflower Rd, Adar's House, the inn at Crossroads, the bed in Prince Tower, the inn at Hidden Village, and the inn at Misty Gorge and the bed/cot in the cave at Misty Gorge) but the medal is not showing up for me. is there another place to sleep or is that it?

@morbid - Did you try sleeping there normally? I'm not sure if the event ones count, so you might have to sleep at your house and at the inn in Daea normally.

@morbid I don't know if this can help you but something similar happened to me. I was sure I had slept in all the places but the medal didn't appear so I slept again in a few and finally at Misty George Inn I got the medal. My theory is that when I went to Misty George I saved in the statue and after that I slept (accidentally, that's why I remember this inn) Later, I died in Misty George so I revived at the save statue and that time I didn't slept at the inn so it didn't count. Try to think if something like this happened to you and (if you have money) re-visit all the places.
There aren't more places to sleep so it has to be something related to this

@noobzie - cool. thanks for the advice. gotta get some funds and try all the places again.

For a lack of a newspost on your page -nggroundsplayer347- , I'll just drop a few lines right here: Thank you for making a walkthrough for this big thing and monitoring quells newspost! ;)
And of course thanks to -quells- for such a great game and all the support given to gamers.
@ quells: Do you think it appropriate to link to nggrounds walkthrough for all the hint-hungry people out there?

Of course! I should have done this sooner!

Will anyone ever post a playthrough of the game? I love the story but it's taken me several hours to realize that I'm terrible at games and I'll never get past the Dread Lands. But I really do want to see the ending.

@Pinkkea Some unfinished LPs do exist and will eventually reach the end. If you really, reeeally, REALLY want to see the ending (and not the full storyline) ASAP, I'm sure someone here would be willing to record themselves finishing the game and send it to you.

If you want my advice, though, just keep trying. There were many times I nearly gave up on the game, but I kept pushing, even when it took tens of tries just to get past one small part, and eventually I beat the game with 100% completion. If you feel like you can't make it through one section no matter how hard you try, don't feel embarrassed using nggroundsplayer347's guide to find some more heart rubies to make it easier for you. Personally, I couldn't beat the final boss until I had 99 health! XD

Good luck!

What are appreciation flowers for?

where is the second key for the bandit's lair?

@Kiro - I'm assuming you got to the room before the boss and already went to one of the doors on the lower floor (below the save room door). I'm not sure which key you got so I'll put in both. Assuming you took the door under the save room door, one key is off to the west, when you go in that door, a red and a blue bandit should be close to you (with the red one immediately noticing you) and there should be two areas you can go to on the west, the top contains the switch to activate the gate in the lower section which has a key. Going back to the previous room, there should be a bridge that can be deactivated by activating the switch. Hit it and go down and head east past the bandits and into the door. There should be a lot of ladders and bells as well as arrow traps on the east wall and a weird device you can see below you. Head down and you'll find some switches that control the device (it's just a magnet), the far left will deactivate it and it will unmagnetize the key it was holding on to, then just activate the other switches (using your bombs and bat) and the second key is yours. (Then you'll have to go past the bell ladder traps to leave.)

@Esen - There's not much that they really do, they can be given to the adults in Panselo as thanks for what they've done (though I don't know why they can't be given to some of the children since they're helping out as well). You can get a roasted toad leg from LIsa by giving one to her.

@Pinkkea - I might record it, but just expect that it'll come out tomorrow or later (or never). I really do urge that you follow harel55's advice and just keep at it and get some more heart rubies. Try looking at the advice section in my guide for how to get some more money, so you can buy more healing items (upgrade your bag) and better equipment (you should be able to get a hammer and a chain mail at this point). You can also try getting the translucent meat from the blue wisps in Misty Gorge and give it to the chef in Daea, the mystery lunchbox will heal 50 hp. Good luck.

@BSEfcukde - Thanks for the kind words, just glad to help out.

There's going to be a minor update on the guide, some corrections here and there, item section will be updated, and the quest guide will be updated with all the quests (that can be done) that I know of so far. After that, I'll probably do a full walkthrough and a treasure chest section.

first off, fantastic game quell! definitely felt the zelda influences as well as (cave story?).

i was wondering, there is a door behind a locked wall in the first phase of the 66 chase. is it possible to unlock this?

@minsanity - The door you see when running from 66 can not be accessed.

Where do you go to after you find the rocket boots?

@Lolcat - Head to the ancient crater, past Mul Cavern. Use them to avoid the laser towers (beamos).

How do you get to the ancient crater?

@lolcat - I'm not sure what point you are in the game (I assumed you already got the rocket boots), if you do have the boots and have gone through Mul Cavern, you should find yourself at the north end when you finish, on the upper left area, the Ancient's Crater lies in wait for you and on the upper right side is the Hidden Forest. If that doesn't answer your question, tell me what are the last few areas that you've unlocked or the last main story details and I should be able to direct you.

There's a bug where my max health only goes 'till 91, instead of 99. I have collected every heart ruby though. This way, I can't manage to unlock the secret place.
